Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD Player

487799593.jpgToshiba America Consumer Products have just unveiled two Toshiba HD DVD players according to the DVD Forum, the organization that determines DVD specifications. The Toshiba HD-XA1 is targeted at the American audience and will be the HD DVD player in America.

The HD-XA1 is a state of the art player which promises exceptional and sharp images and is even backwards compatible with existing DVDs. The HDXA1 disc drive has an astonishing 36.55Mbps transfer rate. While a, standard DVD has an average bit rate of less than 10Mbps and HDTV's maximum rate is 24Mbps. The HDXA1 also outputs HD content through the HDMI interface in the native format of the HD DVD disc content of either 720p or 1080i. The HD-XA1 plays the following video formats like HD-DVD, HD-DVDR, DVD, DVD-R,DVD-RW,DVD-RAM and all CD formats.

The Toshiba HD-XA1 also has a sleek and smart design and sports a solid body and uses four high performance DSP engines to decode the multi-channel streams of the various audio formats and has a built in Dolby Digital Plus DTS and DTS HQ decoders. DXA1's supported audio formats can be decoded to PCM and output via HDMI in either stereo or 5.1 multi-channel, depending on the original soundtrack.
