Philips Electronics has announced two Blu-Ray products, the Blu-ray Disc (BD) player and all-in-one PC Writer which would be available by the third quarter of 2006. The Blu-ray Disc Payer (BDP9000) and all-in-one PC Writer (TripleWriter)(TM) are one of those products which everyone will keep an eye on as this is uncharted territory for Philips.

The BDP9000 promise to offer all the features which will change the way consumers watch their movies. The player will include a HDMI output which is capable of supporting the newest 1080p resolution. There is a component video output too which the company promises will stun users with vivid imagery and DVD upscaling to 1080i. The audiophiles will also be satisfied as the player promises unrivaled audio performance thanks to the multi-channel HD audio decoding and digital audio optical outputs. The best part ,you don’t have throw out your collection of CDs and DVDs as this player is backward compatible.

The new TripleWriter drive acts as a bridge between personal computers with consumer electronics as one can store important content like photographs, movies, music libraries on one disc.
